Grand National Ladies Day gets messy with booze-fuelled limbo and groping at Aintree racecourse

AINTREE race fans pulled on their glad rags and showed off some very cheeky antics on booze-fuelled Ladies Day.

Crowds were spotted swearing and downing drinks as they kicked-off the weekend at the famous Liverpool race track this morning.

Ladies Day is a highlight of the racing calendar for many fans and is known for its eye-catching attire and boozy behaviour.

It looked like a few April showers were going to dampen spirits at the track, but well-prepared crowds whipped out brollies to ensure the show went on.

As always on race-day the bars were packed and revellers were seen clutching drinks as they soaked up the atmosphere.

Due to a relaxed dress code, Aintree is famous for crowds being as colourful as the jockeys' jerseys and today fans did not disappoint.

Plunging necklines and skimpy dresses were the style of choice for ladies at the event, as they huddled under brollies to escape the rain.

But while fans were happy to take the "less is more approach",  Aintree offered this advice on its website: "Although there is no official dress code, smart is preferable and is often adopted.

"Aintree is a spectacle of colour throughout the year, with many using their trip to the racecourse as an opportunity to showcase their favourite race-day outfits.
